I love the series of firsts that come with moving somewhere. If you’re like me, and you hit a trifecta of these things within a half hour, you come close to tears. Driving around the Fan provides you with many such instances, so I’ve had no shortage of character-building moments. At least everything is fun to look at while spinning around blocks and dodging one-ways.
Today, I ventured to the basement to do a load of laundry…
1. The laundry basket doesn’t fit down the back stairs. Have to execute a one-armed, boob-crushing hold to make it down, where Hannibal Lecter may or may not be waiting for you.
2. Bring the whole jar of quarters. Or else you have to go all the way back up, because it’s $1.50, not $1.25, you dummy.
3. Minimal cell reception downstairs when you need to call husband to ask him how to actually do the laundry.
Anyway, I left a little message on a dirty mirror to brighten up the experience for the next patron.
