The warm nights when The Fan is dark and quiet and we’re riding back from dinner or drinks with friends down empty streets are the nights I can’t imagine living anywhere else in the world. Cicadas and rustling trees are the soundtrack of summer in Richmond—ours when you add in the sound of the ratchet clicking while you coast between pedals. There’s a rhythm to our days when it’s warm, pulling bikes in and out of the garage, turning music on as we bump down the alley, taking turns locking our steeds to trees or light poles or street signs.
I’m already creating wishlists for the temperatures to change: new outdoor planters, ruffled skirts, shimmery coconut oil. Now I’m adding bike accessories to the list, something I rediscovered while falling back in love with Etsy after a few years hiatus. It used to be my go-to for collecting everything unique around my house, from shearling rugs and antlers to pillows and old camp signs. After dusting off my Favorites list, I found one of my old favorite shops: Walnut Studiolo.
The leather bike accessories… c’mon! (That may have been the hippest thing I’ve ever typed? #hip)
After the now-passed warm snap here in RVA, I’m already pining for spring and Chad’s and my warm weather bike rides to nearby restaurants, bars, and festivals. And these are getting me even more in the mood. (Love the BUI-encouraging accouterments below, too… burp.)
