Hey hey hey—I’m still on the pink thing. This time, there was an actual occasion: the Yves St Laurent “Perfection of Style” exhibit premier at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. And if you live in Richmond like I do, I cannot suggest it enough. Such a beautiful retrospective and an up close and personal look at the mind of a genius. My favorite part? The sketches for each season with fabric swatches, below. There was a WHOLE WALL of these, guys.
A few of my favorites, but there were hundreds of things to see and I got a bit rushed at the end. Will definitely be going back. Get tickets online here if you’d like to go—come to Richmond and make a weekend out of it.
Sidebar: I love this chill AF Michelle Mason dress so much and haven’t gotten a chance to post it here—I wore it last Christmas and have been waiting for the best opportunity to take it out on the town. It’s got a definite shirtdress vibe to it, like a dude’s smoking jacket, with a pretty risque sheer panel down the front. I wore it with pink velvet booties to tone down the tartiness of it.
If you haven’t checked out Michelle Mason’s line, it’s pricey but super unique and has a definite masculine/feminine, relaxed/tailored vibe to it. I feel like I’m spilling a trade secret here because I love that I never see anyone else wearing her stuff, but I’m a big fan. I love that I’m not going to run into clones when wearing her stuff—in person or online. If you have an event or wedding coming up, one of her dresses is a great bet to stand out. A few of my favorite picks of hers on Shopbop right now:
So much silk! I got the grey one in a plum colored matte silk for an upcoming wedding, but it has open shoulders and 3/4 sleeves. Stay tuned.
