So this is 100% not an ad or sponsored post… I just have to tell you guys about this amazing thing I discovered: Vinebox. As a wine snob of epic proportions, I had my reservations and was very curious about how the product was going to end up, seeing as how it wasn’t coming in a bottle. I don’t know much about how the producers and distributors are working together to make this excellent test tube-esque miracle happen, but I was not disappointed in the least—it was divine.
If you’re wondering what the point of something like this is (unless you order your toilet paper online, then this probably seems legit normal), let me offer you a few reasons why I decided to try it myself, despite the sea of excellent wine stores I live among here in Richmond.
- If you’re the sole wine drinker in your household, you know how much it sucks to open a bottle of wine knowing it won’t be as good tomorrow—unless you finish it. I essentially switched to bourbon two years ago after realizing how many extra calories I was downing in the name of not committing vinocide to a perfectly good bottle. Chad isn’t a big wine drinker, so this allows me to have that one, perfect pour I’m craving while cooking dinner.
- And it cuts you off. Which is the next point I was going to make. Portion control. A lot easier to do when this is about all you get (which is an excellent size pour, btw).
- Plus, you get to try new stuff. It’s nearly impossible to taste every wine out there, but you can get a little closer. These were some beautiful wines straight outta France—and they had lots of depth and complexity.
- Cool packaging! Come on, who doesn’t love that. A perfectly executed foam box with these elegant, thin bottles inside I’m planning to reuse on a picnic or beach trip.
Perfectly measured 10cl pours (restaurant pours, not home-style pours). Hand-selected by a team of wine-obsessed sommeliers. All with curated notes and pairings.
Yes, please.
